Dotted formats open through Windows using free Microsoft Store extensions (HEIF Image Extensions, AV1 Video Extension, Raw Image Extension). Most PCs already have them.
One photo or a whole folder, in the format you need
Convert the photo you're looking at, or hand over an entire folder. AsapView uses every CPU core to process many images at once.
- Save as JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, TIFF, ICO, TGA, QOI or JXR
- Set the quality to balance file size and detail
- Resize by the longest edge, say to 2048 px, in the same pass

Drop photos in a folder, they come out converted
Pick a folder to watch. Whenever a new image lands there, AsapView converts it quietly from the system tray. It starts with Windows, so you set it up once.
Keep originals
Only the converted copy is created. Originals stay untouched.
Move to a subfolder
Originals are tucked away so the folder holds only converted files.
Send to Recycle Bin
Don't need the originals? They go to the Recycle Bin, so mistakes are recoverable.
Sideways photo? Press R
R rotates clockwise and L counter-clockwise, instantly. CtrlS saves it, and for JPEG only the orientation tag changes, so there's no quality loss at all.
Keyboard first
Flip, zoom, go fullscreen and delete without reaching for the mouse.
Drag and drop
Drop a photo or a folder from Explorer onto the window to open it.
Copy the image
CtrlC copies the image, CtrlShiftC copies the file path.
Set as wallpaper
Make the photo you're viewing your desktop background from the menu.
Show in Explorer
Opens the containing folder with the current file selected.
Remembers its place
Reopens at the size and position you last used.

Is it really free?
Yes. Free for personal and business use, with no ads and no locked features.
iPhone photos (HEIC) won't open.
Install HEIF Image Extensions from the Microsoft Store (free). Reopen AsapView and HEIC/HEIF photos will open and convert.
How do I open AVIF files?
You need the AV1 Video Extension from the Microsoft Store (free). Most Windows 11 PCs have it already.
Does it handle camera RAW (CR2, NEF, ARW, DNG)?
Yes. Install the Raw Image Extension from the Microsoft Store to open most camera RAW files and convert them to JPG and other formats.
Does AsapView send my photos or usage data anywhere?
No. AsapView never connects to the network and collects nothing. See the privacy policy for details.
How do I make it my default photo viewer?
Open Windows Settings › Apps › Default apps, choose AsapView, and assign the extensions you want (.jpg, .png, .heic and so on).
